Captain’s Blog Star Date 20.9.2025 – Cobras
Grange Park Golf Club – Monday 1st September
What a day to remember! On Monday 1st September, the Cobras gathered at the beautiful Grange Park Golf Club to celebrate the Captain’s Golf Day. From the first tee to the final putt, the course provided the perfect backdrop for a brilliant day of golf, friendship, and plenty of laughs along the way.
15 Cobras played in 5 x three balls with the best two scores on all holes counting using the Stapleford scoring system with the exception of par 3's where all 3 scores counted.
The teams were:
Group 1: Ronnie Samuel, Dave Pennington and Paul McManus
Group 2: Ken Gibson, Ronan McGrath and Martyn Croft
Group 3: John Jones, Ronnie Turner and Dave Hest
Group 4: Mike Robertson, Vic Guney and Keith Reilly
Group 5: Dave Gregson, Paul Robley and Martyn Green
The weather played its part, giving us ideal conditions, and the course itself was in excellent shape—testing, but fair. Spirits were high from the very first drive, with the Cobras showing their usual blend of competitiveness and camaraderie.
After the round, we enjoyed a well-deserved meal together in the clubhouse, where stories of near-misses, outrageous putts, and a few “what ifs” were shared. Prizes were awarded, congratulations given, and most importantly, the Cobras spirit shone through.
The winners were as follows:
Overall winners were Ronnie Samuel, Ronnie Samuel and Paul McManus with 73 points.
David Pennington won the longest Drive with David Hest winning the nearest to the pin ⛳️
A huge thank you to everyone who took part and made the day so special. Days like these remind us why we play the game - not just for the golf, but for the friendships and memories that come with it.
Here’s to the rest of the season, and to many more great days together on the course. and the years ahead.
