There were 18 Cobras in attendance at Haydock Park Golf Club for the Cobra day on 4th August. The weather started off with heavy rain and howling wind for 6 holes then turned sunny for the remaining holes, thank god.
Customary bacon barms and tea and coffee were served at 10.30 for an 11.30 tee time.
Host Captain, Paul Robley gave everyone in attendance a small gift which consisted of a plastic clear square box containing a HPGC logo ball, ball marker, fake grass with a Cobra logo on one side, plus a HPGC towel and Captains golf ball.
The competition format was best two to score from three. There was also a nearest the pin on hole 4 and 18th holes.
The teams were:
Group 1: Joey Cain, Paul Robley & Tristram Lesser
Group 2: Keith Reilly, Dale Kenningham & Dave Gregson
Group 3: Vic Guney, Alan Acheson and Ronnie Turner
Group 4: Simon Harwood, Martyn Croft and Paul McManus
Group 5: Martyn Green, Dave Hest and Andy Killeen
Group 6: Mike Robertson, Dave Pennington & Dave Blake
Everyone enjoyed the golf although some of the competitors were unaware of the tight fairways which coupled with the many trees Haydock has very small greens made for some interesting, some said frustrating, but challenging day of golf!
Following the golf, drinks were had on the patio which was followed by an early evening meal.
The results were:
1st Dave Gregson, Keith Reilly (again at Haydock) and Dale Kenningham
2nd Dave Hest, Martyn Green and Andy Killeen
Nearest the pin on the 4th hole: Dave Blake
Nearest the pin in two on the 18th hole: Paul Robley
The Captain's charity for the year is HPGC, charity starts at home with the Captains raising £90 for the charity - thanks everyone!
The Captain closed the day by thanking all the Cobras for their attendance, wished everyone a safe journey home and hoped to see everyone at the next Cobra day at Huyton and Prescot.
